Developing Cultural Awareness
Educators need to develop a sense of cultural awareness to successfully incorporate multiple perspectives into their classroom regardless if they have one Indigenous child or an entire classroom of Indigenous children.
The Eight Aboriginal Ways of Learning
This model has been developed by the Aboriginal Peoples of Western NSW with the purpose of designing an Aboriginal pedagogy for educators to use.
The Eight Ways of Learning can refer to the learning process of all children, not exclusively Indigenous children. Educators must also be aware that this does not mean all Indigenous Peoples can only learn through this process but it can be a helpful guide to use in the early years of teaching especially within Indigenous communities.
